1. Here's the Real Action
By Mark Crispin Miller of OpEdNews

....Rove's cyber guru, Michael Connell, has worked for the Bush family
for over 20 years and helped Bush Sr., Jeb and Bush Jr. "win" their
elections using his computer skills. Whistleblowers, including a
Republican cyber security expert, say that several of these and other
national elections have been rigged through various invisible and
illegal means, including vote tabulation manipulation, improper
partisan use of the Justice Department to target Democrats and
uncooperative U.S. Attorneys, and the laundering of hundreds of
millions of corporate dollars funneled into fake advocacy groups
directed against Democrat candidates running for public office. Ex-
Alabama Governor Don Siegelman has stated publicly that Rove was
the person who directed Siegelman's rigged election and criminal
prosecution. GOP cyber sleuth Stephen Spoonamore has stated
publicly that the leadership of the GOP has been "lying and stealing
elections" and doing so through computers.

2. DNC: McCain Watch: Scheunemann,
Abramoff, and Reed
Wall Street Journal "Market Watch"

This week John McCain has stayed busy trying to escape his ties to
criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his shady lobbyist colleagues,
including Randy Scheunemann and Ralph Reed. The McCain
campaign has been trying to gloss over the details of Scheunemann's
swings between lobbying and advising McCain, often on issues of
interest to recent clients, and attempting to excuse McCain's
enlistment of Abramoff crony Reed to raise money. But the McCain
campaign can't spin away Scheunemann's shady ties, or his influence
on McCain, and they're not having any more success trying to escape
the fallout over McCain's refusal to cancel his Monday fundraiser with
Reed.

3. Mukasey's sad failings
.Editorial in the Anniston Star

....In his now typically cavalier response, Mukasey went on to say that
those people who had been hired at the Justice Department —
though many are terribly under-qualified — would keep their jobs and
those people who were not hired — though they were clearly qualified
— were encouraged to apply again.

Let's be clear. This isn't about the under-qualified losing their jobs or
the prosecution of the under-qualified and naïve who broke the rules.
And it is much less about breaking the law.

This is about an attorney general who is doing absolutely nothing to
stabilize an institution that is part of the very foundation of this nation.

4. Are feds trying to aid Wicker’s election?
By Tim Kalich Editor of the Greenwood Commonwealth

....
The three, all executives with The Facility Group of Smyrna, Ga.,
were largely left off the hook on the more serious charges that they
had swindled the state out of at least $2 million and had left the plant’
s vendors and contractors holding the bag.

Instead, they were allowed in a plea bargain to confess to trying to
buy influence with Musgrove by steering $25,000 to the
then-governor’s unsuccessful re-election campaign in 2003.

The orchestrated guilty pleas -- and the prosecutors’ suggestion that
more indictments could be forthcoming -- are a boon to the campaign
of Republican Roger Wicker, who was appointed to the vacant Senate
seat in December but is considered vulnerable. They leave a cloud
over Musgrove in voters’ minds and provide more fodder for negative
campaign ads from the GOP camp, even though Musgrove has not
been charged with any wrongdoing and there’s nothing in the court
records to document he did anything illegal.
