The former Governor Don Siegelman was so popular that he served in Alabama politics for 26 years. In fact, he was so un-beatable that GOP political operatives nicknamed him “The Cockroach.” These Republicans wanted their man to win. However, no matter how much money they spent, no matter which candidate they put up against Siegelman, no matter how bad the press and even judicial prosecution was biased against him, Don Siegelman won and kept on winning.

So, they started playing dirty tricks.

Really dirty.

Until Don Siegelman won his last election, sweeping into the governorship with 57% of the vote, Don had never been accused of corrupt or criminal acts.
